Description
The front wall, gatepiers, and gates to Steep Lane Baptist Chapel date from 1874, the same year the chapel was built. The structure is made of coursed squared stone and ashlar, with cast-iron gates. The wall features a ramped design with chamfered ashlar coping. At the left end, there is a single pier, while the right end has simple monolithic piers with chamfered tops flanking a narrow gateway. The wider central gateway is flanked by ashlar piers on plinths, topped with pyramidal gableted caps. This gateway has a two-leaf gate made of square section bars and dogbars, adorned with fleur-de-lis finials. The structure is noted for its group value.
