Description
The Baptist Chapel, built in 1818, features rough rendering with ashlar detailing on the entrance front and is topped with concrete tiles. The building is a rectangular block with two wings that house stairs, along with a low projecting block at the rear, all covered by hipped roofs and front parapets. It is two stories high with three windows plus wings, showcasing arched heads on the front and rear, while the other windows have square heads. All windows are sashes with glazing bars. The entrance has a flush panelled double door set deep within an arched opening, adorned with alternating quoins or voussoirs above a plat band. Inside, the gallery wraps around three sides supported by five slender cast iron columns, with the balcony front featuring classical panels that are painted. The chapel has pitch pine pews, and the pulpit and reading desks are located at the central east end, approached by a double staircase, all painted and grained. The doors are well-crafted with fielded panels. The surrounding graveyard is enclosed by spear-head iron railings on the front and right side, which include a pair of gates and a single gate.
