Description
This is a barn attached to Longley Farmhouse in Longley, likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof and has two storeys with a loft, divided into three bays.
On the west front, the barn features quoins, and the openings have plain stone surrounds. There is a central round-arched cart entry, with later doorways at either end; the left doorway was inserted in a former window. To the right of the cart entry, there are two windows, and one window above it to the left, all breaking through the eaves and set under pigeon-holes with ledges in the gable. The barn has plain gutter brackets on a band.
The rear of the barn has a central doorway flanked by two windows. On the first floor, there are four windows and a taking-in door to the right, with a central gable that features a three-light window set under pigeon-holes with ledges. The gutter blocks are on a table. Inside, the barn has a queen post roof. The building is now part of riding stables.
