Description
These cottages, located 25 meters to the northeast of Lad Stones, were originally built as a pair in the early 18th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with a symmetrical three-bay facade. The doorways are set within a portal and have segmental arched entries. On either side of the doorways, there are chamfered mullioned windows with four lights on each floor, and above the arch, there is a window with three lights. The building has two stacks at the ridge. At the rear, there is a back-to-earth section that includes a first-floor door entry and three chamfered mullioned windows with two lights each. This structure is quite unusual, resembling a converted barn, but it was apparently designed from the outset as two cottages.
