Description
Beeston Hall is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century, which has been converted into three dwellings. It features large dressed stone and a stone slate roof, and is two storeys high with a plinth. The building has three parallel ranges with a flush frontage, gables that have moulded coping and a parapet, and one surviving lantern finial that resembles the design found at Great House on Great House Lane nearby. A moulded string course runs along the building, and there are three hoodmoulds with decorated stops of different designs on the first floor.
All the windows are early 19th century sashes with plain stone surrounds. Set back from the main range is an added gabled wing that has a doorway with a much weathered date stone and a chamfered surround. Above this doorway is a former four-light double chamfered mullioned window, with the central lights stepped. The ground floor features a three-light window with a four-light window above it. There is a gable stack, and the right-hand return wall has 19th century sash windows and a doorway with monolithic jambs.
The rear of the building retains 17th century fenestration in the parallel ranges, including a double chamfered mullioned window of two lights, and a four-light window above it, both with decorated label stops. A tall stair window lacks mullions, and there is a four-light window above it with the same decorated label stops. The west wing has inserted sash windows, and there are a total of seven stacks on the building. The interior has not been inspected.
