Description

This is a 1765 laithe-house, initialled "J S S". It is constructed of thin, hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof, and has quoins. To the left is a barn with a mistal doorway featuring monolithic jambs. A segmental arched cart entrance has skewbacks, an expressed keystone, and an apron supporting an inscribed date tablet. A single-light window is set into a room that was taken out of a three-bay barn, which has a queen-strut roof and a hayloft above. A doorway with monolithic jambs is located alongside two bays of flat-faced mullioned windows, featuring overlapping lintels and sills of two lights without glazing. The right-hand return wall has a doorway with thin monolithic jambs. The rear elevation features flat-faced mullioned windows of two and four lights. Two dressed stacks are located along the ridge.
