Description
The building is a cottage with an attached cattle shade and cowhouse, located 15 meters to the west of Erringden Grange Farmhouse. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The two-storey single-cell cottage features a two-light flat faced mullioned window next to the doorway, which has tie-stones, and a smaller two-light window above it. The corners of the cottage are quoined, and the right-hand return wall has a two-light window on each floor, while the rear has a single light window on the first floor.
Attached to the left end of the cottage is a single-storey range that includes seven basket arches supported on double skewbacks, with each pair resting on a monolithic pillar; currently, only two of these arches are open. This range, which was originally a cattle shade, curves slightly. The cowhouse attached to this range features two doorways with tie-stones and a two-light flat faced mullioned window set between them. The roof of this range is made of asbestos.
