Description

This is a late 18th-century wool store, now converted into a house, located on the north side of Sowerby Street in Sowerby Bridge. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a loft space. The front, facing the road, has two bays, defined by quoins. Simple stone surrounds the openings. A central entrance door is flanked by windows with raised sills on both floors. A chimney stack is located on the right-hand end. The rear elevation features a six-light, flat-faced mullion window on the first floor, and a similar ground-floor window that has been altered. The left return side shows a blocked central cart entry, with quoins, imposts and voussoirs, where a later two-light, flat-faced mullion window has been inserted. There is a door to the left of the cart entry, with a matching two-light window above. A gable has a taking-in door flanked by small two-light windows, set below a corbelled wooden canopy.
