Description
Wainstalls Wesleyan Reformed Church, built in 1857, is a single-storey rural chapel made of dressed sandstone "brick". It features a pedimented gable with a coved eaves cornice that extends across to define the gable. The front has three bays, with two Venetian windows on either side of a plain ashlar-framed doorway that has a cornice and a plaque above it inscribed "Mount Pleasant Wesleyan Reformed Chapel, built by subscription 1857". The side elevations consist of four bays with windows that have ashlar lintels and are marginally glazed with coloured and frosted glass. The gable ends are topped with a stone slate roof. Attached to the west side is a plain sandstone "brick" hall serving as the Sunday School. Inside the chapel, there are box pews arranged radially around the pulpit, with an organ located behind, all dating from 1857.
