Description

Toothill Hall is a house dating from circa 1823, built for Thomas Firth. The front is constructed of ashlar stone, while the sides are of hammer-dressed stone. The roof is covered with slate and features two stacks along the ridge. The building is two storeys and symmetrical, with a five-bay front featuring tall sash windows. A plinth, sill band, and moulded eaves cornice are also present. A central porch is supported by Roman Doric columns and topped with a pediment, leading to a six-panelled door over an arch-headed fanlight. The roof is hipped. The left return wall has one sash window to the ground floor, with a matching window above. The right return wall contains two tall sash windows and a single-storey 20th-century extension with three sash windows to the first floor. The rear of the house has a single-storey segmental bow. The grounds retain a Ha-Ha.
