Description
This description refers to a much weathered gritstone monolith, likely from the 10th century, which is built into the west face of the wall of number 15 on Crowthrees Lane in Brighouse. The stone features a spiral motif that is incised into its surface, extending down the left side before running out to the left. This design resembles a Bishop's crozier and may indicate an earlier ecclesiastical boundary. The monolith shares a similar character with a cross-base located in St. Matthew's Churchyard, approximately 200 meters to the north, suggesting that they may have been created around the same time in the 10th century.
