Description
Woolrow and Woolrow Farmhouse is a house now divided into two occupations, with one currently vacant. The building dates from the 17th century and features a hall range with an early 18th-century gabled cross-wing. The front is two stories and rendered, while the rear showcases finely dressed stone and is 1½ stories high. The cross-wing is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar quoins and a central stack.
The south front has three bays. The first bay features an 8-light cruciform window with a 4-light window above it. The second bay contains a 2-light window with a similar window above, along with an 8-light transomed window that has a 2-light and a 5-light window above it. Below this is a doorway with a shallow arched lintel and spandrels, sheltered by a wooden porch. All windows are likely double chamfered mullioned, though the render obscures some details. There is a stack at the junction of the first two bays.
The third bay, formed by the gabled cross-wing, has quoins on the right-hand angle and recessed flat-faced mullioned windows with square reveals, featuring six lights on the ground floor (two lights solid) and four lights on the first floor. The return wall of the cross-wing includes a string course and similar windows. The rear gable has a 4-light window on the first floor, while the ground floor has been altered to include a 19th-century flush flat-faced mullioned window with six lights. The rear of the hall range, which has a cat slide roof of aisled plan, retains some double chamfered mullioned windows that have been modified with modern glazing.
