Description
The Fleece Inn is a public house built in 1737, featuring thin coursed hammer dressed stone and a stone slate roof. It is a long, two-storey building with an attached barn that has a blocked segmental arch, which has been converted to provide additional accommodation. The eastern end of the building is of particular interest, originally consisting of three bays, to which the barn was added in the early 19th century. This section has three bays of thin flat faced mullioned windows, each with two wide lights, and overlapping lintels and sills, although the glazing has been altered. There is a doorway with monolithic jambs and a deep lintel that bears a carved inscription. The right-hand end features quoins, and the building has a coped gable with kneelers and two stacks at the ridge.
