Description
Upper Mytholm Farmhouse and the attached barn, dated 1775, originally served as a pair of cottages but now functions as a single dwelling. The building features watershot masonry, dressed quoins, and a stone slate roof, and it stands two storeys high. The facade includes flat faced mullioned windows, with a 4-light window and a 6-light window above it, although two of the lights are blocked. The original doorway, which had tie-stone jambs, has been altered to accommodate a 2-light window. There is also a 4-light window above this. A gabled stone porch from the mid-20th century, with tie-stone jambs, covers the doorway.
The barn, which is at a lower level and has a different roofline, features a semi-circular arched cart entry with an impost block and a dropped keystone. Additionally, there is a mistal doorway at a lower level, also with tie-stone jambs. To the left of the barn arch, there is an inserted 3-light flat faced mullioned window from around 1984 that is in keeping with the original style. The right-hand return wall of the barn has a circular owl hole in the gable, with sunken spandrels above it that display the date. The building has two stacks at the ridge. Inside, one room retains a fireplace with a segmental arch supported by corbelled jambs.
