Description
Mankinholes Farmhouse and attached Antwerp Cottage are two houses built in the early 18th century, located about 50 yards south of the Youth Hostel and opposite the barn at Mankinholes. The houses are constructed of large dressed stone with a stone slate roof and originally had a three-room plan. They are two storeys high, with three bays of double-chamfered mullioned windows of five lights on each floor, which have been altered to three lights. A doorway with monolithic jambs is positioned between the second and third bays, sheltered by a small porch with a plain entablature and triangular pediment. The gables are coped with kneelers and a convex moulded stone gutter runs along the roofline. Three stacks are positioned along the ridge. A blocked taking-in doorway with a two-light chamfered mullioned window is visible on the right-hand return wall. An attached rear cross-wing includes a stack and square windows, formerly sash windows.
