Description
This building, located 10 meters east of Lad Stones, is a house or outbuilding of uncertain use, dating from the mid-17th century with alterations from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and has a stone slate roof, featuring two storeys and quoins.
The south front is highlighted by a double chamfered mullioned window with five lights, which has a hoodmould with heart-shaped label stops. To the left, there is a two-light window. On the first floor, there are two two-light chamfered mullioned windows and a single chamfered light. The left-hand return wall has a pointed arched doorway that matches the design of the cross-wing doorway at Lad Stones, although this entry is blocked. The rear of the building includes a doorway with tie-stones and a single brick stack.
Inside, there is an unusual tall pointed stone arch that resembles the barn to the north of Lad Stones. It appears that the building was originally a single storey, and the stone arch was added when it was raised to two storeys. The gable shows the earlier roof line.
