Description

This is a terrace of twelve improved workers' houses, numbers 29 to 40, located on Dove Street in Saltaire. Completed by 1868, they were designed by Lockwood and Mawson for Titus Salt as part of the Saltaire model village. The houses are built of hammer-dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof. Each house is two storeys high and two bays wide, with the end houses slightly projecting and gabled. Each house has entrances within stepped reveals, topped with fanlights. The ground-floor windows are round-arched and archivolted, while the first-floor windows are plain, with the end houses featuring a triple-grouped design with round-arched lights. Original six-pane sashes remain in number 30. A first-floor sill band runs along the terrace, and moulded stone brackets support the gutter.
