Description

A terrace of overlookers' houses was completed by 1857 as part of the Saltaire model village, designed by Lockwood and Mawson for Titus Salt. The houses are built of hammer-dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof. The terrace comprises numbers 48 to 65, with numbers 48 and 53 being three-storey high, while the remaining houses are two-storey. Each house has two bays, with numbers 48, 53, 59, and 65 projecting slightly forward. Ground-floor entrances and windows are round-arched and feature keystones. Number 56 has a large, 20th-century bow window. First and second-floor windows are square-headed. Large wooden brackets support the gutter line. The roof is hipped.
