Description

The farmhouse at Small Banks is a 18th-century house situated on Cocking Lane in Addingham. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins dating to 1740 and has a stone slate roof. Originally a three-room plan, the house was later extended with a pantry and features a partly sunken cellar at the rear. It has double-chamfered mullioned windows throughout, with each floor featuring two bays of four-light windows that are missing two mullions. The doorway has an eared architrave, monolithic jambs with consoles and a cornice. Above the doorway is a four-light window of similar design. A broad, stop-chamfered surround characterizes the doorway, while the jambs are composite. Two tall dressed stacks rise from the ridge. The house is initialled and dated "WL."
