Description

Nos 229 and 231 on Moorside Road are a pair of late 18th century cottages located on the south side of the entrance to Haigh Fold. They are two storeys high and constructed from sandstone "brick" with flush quoins. The cottages feature a stone slate roof with saddlestones and corniced chimneys, and they are dated between 1764 and 1836. The front has two and three light square mullion windows set in squared surrounds, with some alterations on the ground floor. There is an intact three light square mullion window at the rear and squared jamb doorways. These cottages are included for their group value.
