Description
Old Stone Hall, dated 1801, is likely a rebuild of a 17th-century house. It features a symmetrical three-bay front with a two-bay cottage extension that is of slightly later construction. The building is made of sandstone "brick" with chamfered ashlar quoins on the main front and a first-floor sill band. The stone slate roof has modillion brackets supporting a moulded eaves cornice, and there are corniced chimneys. Originally, the windows were two or three-light mullioned types, but these have been replaced with casements in squared surrounds. There is a small central first-floor window on the main front with a date plaque below it, and a squared jamb corniced doorway. The roadside cottage has a bevelled one-bay return, and some mullions remain intact at the rear. The building is included for its group value.
