Description

Nos 32, 34, and 36 High Street are an early 17th century building, likely constructed around 1664. This block may have originally served as the farmhouse for the fold and is situated on the north-west side. It is two storeys high and built from coursed gritstone, topped with a stone slate roof.

No 34 features two-light, broad, chamfered mullioned windows that were originally designed with four mullions, along with a doorway that has a chamfered ogee arched lintel. No 36 presents a rough-cast front facing the road, which includes early 19th century two-light mullioned windows and a doorway. The left side of No 36 has a recessed section with a gable, representing the original 17th century part of the building. This section includes a saddlestone, prominent kneelers, and a ball finial at the apex of the gable. The first floor window, originally containing four lights, still has its central chamfered mullion. The ground floor features a two-light square mullioned window.

The north-west side of the building is mostly blind but includes a large mullion transomed window that spans both storeys. At the far end, above a blocked two-light mullioned window, there is a former four-light window that has been reduced to a two-light square mullion window, complete with a drip mould.
