Description
Frizley Old Hall is a hall house dated 1727, situated on Frizinghall Road. It possesses unusually sophisticated detailing for a house of its period in the Bradford area and is similar in style to the later Frizingley Hall. The house is constructed of sandstone, appearing like thin brick, with flush quoins. It has a stone slate roof, coped gable ends, corniced chimneys, and moulded stone eaves. A moulded stone string course runs between the two storeys, projecting forward above a corniced doorway. The front facade features three windows with four-light, square-frame, square-mullioned glazing, with a two-light window centrally positioned on the first floor. The panelled front door is contained within a stone architrave with an enriched frieze of delicately carved leaves. Above the date, a medallion is inscribed with the initials "LJD". The rear elevation is symmetrical, centered around a square-mullioned double-transomed stair light. Here, the square-mullioned windows are among the earliest dated examples in the Bradford area. The interior has been gutted and renewed.
