Description
The Keighley Road Memorial Gatehouse to Lister Park, also known as the Norman Arch, was built in 1883 to commemorate the visit of the then Prince and Princess of Wales, Edward and Alexandra, to Bradford. This castellated gatehouse is constructed of sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings and features octagonal flanking turrets. It has a large pointed archway with a central canopied niche, which is flanked by cusped headed drip moulded windows. Above, there is a machicollated balcony, and the parapet is decorated with roses and Prince of Wales feathers. Inside the archway, there is a ribbed vault. The rear elevation facing the park includes a crow stepped gable and corner buttresses.
