Description
The building at 374 Rooley Lane, Bierley, dates from circa 1820-30 and was originally the Vicarage for St John’s Church. It is a plain, two-storey house constructed of sandstone, which appears like brick. The house is in an "L" shape, with hipped slate roofs featuring simply moulded eaves and corniced chimneys. The north-east front has three bays with revealed glazing bar sashes. The entrance features a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight that has delicate glazing, and it is sheltered by a stone cornice hood supported on shaped brackets. A two-light square mullioned glazing bar sash window is present on the side elevation. The rear elevation has a round-headed stairwell light positioned between the floors.
