Description

This is a long range of cottages built around 1800-1830, with a second block added around 1850. The cottages are constructed of sandstone which has a brick-like appearance, in two slightly stepped blocks. They have stone slate roofs, chimneys with band cornicing, bracketed eaves, and some have saddlestones. A sill band runs along the front. The windows are mostly two-light square mullion windows, with three-light windows at numbers 423 and 425. Number 421, dating from around 1850, features three sash windows and a corniced doorway. Number 437 is similar, with a corniced hood supported by brackets. Number 441 has pilasters framing the doorway. The group represents a good sequence of cottages.
