Description

Nos 483 and 485 Great Horton Road is a late 17th century farmhouse that was subdivided in the late 18th or early 19th century into four cottages. The building is two storeys high and features irregularly coursed sandstone "brick" with large quoins. It has a stone slate roof, saddlestones, and shaped kneelers. The ground floor has two light chamfered mullion windows, while the first floor has late 18th or early 19th century square mullion windows. The central doorway is topped with a simply ornamented lintel. There are remains of an extended chimney stack on the south-west gable end. The front facing Great Horton Road has two light square mullion windows, with a smaller one above the central doorway. Additionally, No 8 features a fluted lead rainwater head dated 1773.
