Description

The Baptist Church in Queensbury is a chapel that was founded in 1773 and rebuilt in 1820. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical front with five bays. The central Venetian window is complemented by a tripartite window above on the first floor, with plain doorways on either side. The plain four-pane sash windows have raised sills, and there is a band between the floors. A central tablet with a roundel states: "This chapel was built AD 1773 Rebuilt AD 1820." The church has a dentilled eaves cornice and a hipped roof, while the side elevation consists of three bays.

Inside, the church features a raking gallery along the sides and rear, with panelled fronts supported by slender cast-iron columns. There is an organ loft with stairs on each side and a central pulpit, all made of dark varnished wood with turned balusters and handrails. The interior also includes panelled box pews arranged to face the centre, with gallery stairs enclosed at the rear on both sides. A memorial to John Taylor, the pastor of the church who died in 1818, is also present.
