Description
Green Clough Farmhouse and its integral barn date from the late 18th century, with a slightly later addition to the north-east wing around 1800. The building is two-storey and constructed of sandstone "brick" with some dry stone walling. It features a stone slate roof with saddlestones and shaped kneelers. The main facade has ashlar quoins and includes five-light square mullion windows on the first floor and three-light square mullion windows on the ground floor, both set in squared surrounds. There is a single-storey outshut and a squared jamb doorway. The barn is plain but has a massive ashlar lintel above its portal. The north-east wing lacks quoins and has coupled single-light squared surround windows on the first floor, along with two-light square mullion windows on the ground floor. The return to the barn features a small round-headed light cut from a single block. The gable ends have saddlestones and crisply sawn shaped kneelers. On the south gable end of the farmhouse, there are two-light and former four-light square mullion windows, also with squared surrounds. An outshut is present on the road front.
