Description

Ryecroft Farmhouse is probably a former chapel, now a house, dating to the late 18th century. It is constructed of dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and three bays wide. The front gable features a doorway with a plain stone surround. A central, shallow arched recess contains a three-light flat-faced mullion window on both the ground and first floors, and a Venetian window on the second floor. Single-light windows are located in the flanking bays. Continuous cill bands and eaves bands run along the front. The left and right returns have quoins and doorways, along with one- and two-light windows, all with plain stone surrounds. Historical records indicate that one of the earliest Primitive Methodist Chapels in the district was previously situated on this site.
