Description
The Syke Farmhouse, situated on Reva Syke Road in Clayton, is likely of 17th-century origin, with substantial rebuilding occurring in the late 18th century and an early 19th-century cottage extension. The farmhouse is constructed of sandstone "brick" with flush quoins. It has stone slate roofs with saddlestones and large shaped kneelers. The cottage extension features four-light square mullion windows, while the farmhouse itself has three-light square mullion windows in squared surrounds. A mid-19th century canted bay window is present on the ground floor. Squared jamb doorways are also visible. The rear of the farmhouse has rendered walls and two-light square mullion windows.
