Description

The garden wall located to the northwest of Thornton Hall is believed to date from the 17th century. It stands approximately 12 to 14 feet high and is constructed from finely coursed thin sandstone blocks, featuring wider banding courses at intervals. The wall has a stone coping and a projecting stone band above a range of four bee boles. These bee boles are shallow, stone-lined recesses with triangular-headed stone frames located in the lower part of the wall.
