Description
East Morton Congregational Church, including the adjoining Sunday school, was built in 1845. The church is constructed of coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. It is set back from the road and raised on a terrace, presenting a single-storey structure with five bays. The central three bays project slightly forward and are accentuated by channelled quoin piers. The building has a plinth and rusticated quoins, along with a frieze and moulded cornice topped by a pediment over the center. The windows are set in shallow reveals that extend down to the plinth, with aprons below the cills. A central pilastered door is topped with an entablature, and there are round-headed side windows. The pediment features a plaque inscribed 'Bethel 1845'. The Sunday school wing at the rear is plain in design.
