Description

No. 9 is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed stone with a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high with two bays. It has projecting quoins. The central entrance has a part-glazed board door within a plain stone surround topped with a moulded cornice. A Venetian window is located on the right side. Other windows are 4-pane sashes in plain stone surrounds. A first-floor band runs along the front. A modillioned eaves cornice is visible, and the ends have corniced stacks. At the rear, a 20th-century door is set within a fluted surround. On the first floor at the rear are two flat-faced mullion windows with plain stone surrounds; one is of two lights and the other of four (now two) lights. The right return has four double-chamfered windows, and two round-arched windows, the first-floor window featuring sunk spandrels. Inside, a segmental-arched fireplace is notable for its roll-moulding, voussoirs, and skewbacks.
