Description

Rush Isles Farmhouse and the attached barn date from the late 18th century and early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof. The farmhouse consists of two sections and is two storeys high, featuring two first-floor windows plus a third window to the left. The left side has quoins, as does the left side of the added bay. There is a board door to the right, which is topped by an oblong fanlight with glazing bars. To the left of the door, there is a single-light window in a plain stone surround, and far left, a six-light flat-faced mullion window. The first floor has similar windows, with a three-light window to the left and a two-light window to the right. The added bay on the left has a four-light flat-faced mullion window on each floor, although the first-floor window has three lights that are blocked. There are two corniced ridge stacks on the roof. At the rear, there is a central six-light window on both the ground and first floors, while other windows have had their mullions removed.

The barn, which is to the right of the farmhouse, was built in the early 19th century and is lower than the house. It has three bays and features a central, elliptical-arched board cart door set in a chamfered, quoined surround with voussoirs. To the right of the cart door, there is a doorway with a chamfered, quoined surround that has been converted into a window, and far right, there is a board door in a chamfered quoined surround. To the left, there is a window with a stone cill and lintel, along with round-arched slit vents at the eaves and gutter brackets.
