Description
Nos 6 to 18 Rawson Place is a terrace of houses dating from around 1800, with Nos 10 and 12 added in the 1890s. The terrace is three storeys high and constructed from sandstone ashlar. It features shops at ground level and has moulded sill bands and eaves cornices. The fronts are mostly three bays wide, with sash windows that have cornices on the first floor and architrave surrounds. Most of the buildings retain the ground floor frame of piers that support the fascia, although modern shops have been inserted in most cases. Nos 10 and 12 are notable for their ornate Jacobean-Flemish elevations, complete with gables and finials, which are related to the elevations on North Parade. The terrace is included for its group value.
