Description
The Barden Aqueduct, built around 1858, is a Grade II listed structure located in Silsden, West Yorkshire. It is constructed from rock-faced stone and ashlar and features three segmental arches supported by tall piers. The arches have cavetto moulded imposts and margin-dressed rock-faced voussoirs that are aligned with the stone courses, while the intrados is punched-dressed. The aqueduct has a hollow-chamfered band and coping along its ashlar parapet. The dressed abutments are topped with cast-iron railings that have spearhead finials. The survey tower on Bolton Road, located to the west, was used during the construction of the aqueduct.
