Description
Illingworth Mausoleum is a granite structure built around 1860 for the Illingworth family, who owned Wheley Mills. The mausoleum is designed in the style of an Egyptian mastaba and features lotus leaf columns with Antis fluting, topped by a deep concave cornice. Sphinxes are positioned on either side of the steps leading to a low portal, which is adorned with a bronze doorway that showcases an incised Egyptian design.
