Caretaker's house. 1877, with mid C20 alterations. By Innocent & Brown. For the Sheffield School Board. Rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and gabled and hipped slate roofs with a gable stack. Plinth, coped gables. 2 storeys plus garrets; 2 window range. Front, facing main building, has to left a gable, with a top hung casement flanked to right by a smaller window, both on a sillband. Above again, a renewed cross casement to the garret. Below, a casement, flanked to right by a door with overlight. Left return, to street, has a first floor string course. Below, a renewed cross casement. INTERIOR not inspected. A number of caretakers' houses of similar design were added to board schools in 1877-78. An ancillary building to Crookesmoor Middle School (qv). (Researches by G Hague, Sheffield City Council).
