Description

This is a house dating to around 1830. It is constructed of ashlar stone with ashlar detailing, and has a hipped slate roof with two square corniced stone stacks. The house has a plinth and a band marking the first floor. It is two storeys high, with a three-window front. The windows are 12-pane sashes. The central bay slightly projects and features a central window with a moulded surround and cornice. A central Doric portico with a dentilled cornice shelters a door with an overlight, and is flanked by single windows. The side returns each have two windows on each floor. The rear elevation features a round-headed stair window flanked by single windows, all of which are blank. Below the stair window is a boarded door flanked to the left by a boarded window and to the right by a blank space. The interior has not been inspected. The poet and journalist Ebenezer Elliot (1781–1849) lived at the house from 1834 to 1841.
