Description

Hole in Wall Farmhouse and adjoining barns and stables is a mid-18th century building with early and mid-19th century alterations and a 1966 addition. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features stone slate roofs, including two coped stone ridge stacks and a coped gable. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has an L-plan layout with a two-window range.

On the main block's south side, there are two three-light mullioned windows, and below them, a two-light mullioned window with a half-glazed door to its right. Beyond these, there are additional three-light mullioned windows on either side. The left gable includes a 19th-century flat-roofed porch with a transomed triple Perpendicular lancet, and in the return angle, there is a Tudor arched doorway with a hoodmould, along with a single window. Above the gable, there is a round window.

The return range to the east features a three-light mullioned window, which is flanked on the left by a two-storey 20th-century window. The rear of this range has a two-storey lean-to addition with a seven-light stone mullioned window. A gabled wing added in 1966 is located to the east.

The adjoining barns and stables to the south include a single-storey west range that runs parallel to the street, featuring a central carriage entrance flanked by single openings with pairs of carriage doors, all having segmental heads. To the right, there is a small casement window. The two-storey return range to the left has a loft door on the left and a 20th-century garage door below it, along with two larger segment-headed carriage openings to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
