Description

This stable block, now offices, was originally built in 1667 and remodelled in the 1830s, with later alterations in the late 20th century. A rear range dates back to the late 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, and has Welsh slate, artificial slate, and stone slate roofs with a single ridge and external rear wall stacks. Quoins and coped gables are also present.

The main block is two stories high with a four-window range. It forms an L-shape. A projecting wing on the left features a ramped, shaped gable topped with a corniced square dovecote, complete with a weathervane. A full-height round-headed recess contains a twelve-pane sash window on each floor, and above these, a clock. The block to the right has three twelve-pane sashes under shouldered, shaped gables with finials. Below the sashes are three similar windows. A 19th-century six-panel door is positioned between the left pair of windows, with three masks (one reset) and a datestone inscribed "Edward Pegge AD 1667" above it. Another stone reads "BB / PB." The left return features a projecting centre with a ramped, shaped coped gable, a finial, and a full-height round-headed recess with a twelve-pane sash on each floor. Ground-floor sash windows are positioned on either side of the recess. The rear elevation has four twelve-pane sashes, with mainly 20th-century fenestration below. The rear includes barns and stables arranged around a courtyard.

The single-story stable range to the north has artificial and stone slate roofs. It features a board door flanked by blocked doors on the left, and a twelve-pane sash flanked by board doors with overlights on the right. The two-story barn range to the west has a central barn door opening with ashlar jambs and a wooden lintel. Two breathers are present on either side, with the upper left one enlarged and glazed. An unglazed two-light casement is to the right, alongside a blocked door and window with a common wooden lintel. Two doorways with chamfered ashlar surrounds, the right one larger, are on the right. A further unglazed two-light casement and a 20th-century garage door are also present. The rear of the barn features central barn doors, four square pitch holes, three unglazed openings, and two unglazed windows. The south gable has a square window on each floor, with the lower one blocked and the upper one unglazed with a pitching eye above. A single-story lean-to range to the south includes three stable doors and three small casements. The rear of this range has two partly blocked windows with a pitching eye above each. The interior of the building was not inspected.
