Description
Two houses, dated 1868. The properties are built of painted stucco with slate roofs, featuring a central coped ridge stack. They have a plinth, a band at first floor level, and a sill band, with wooden brackets supporting the eaves cornice. The houses are two storeys high plus attics, with a six-window facade. Windows are plain sashes. A central block is flanked by higher, gabled wings adorned with elaborate wooden eaves brackets. Centrally, a shallow pilaster is flanked by two sashes with projecting surrounds. Below, two sashes are flanked by square, flat-roofed porches with cornices and blocking courses. The round-arched doorways have impost bands and keystones, with half-glazed panelled doors and fanlights above. The projecting wings feature a single first-floor window with a cornice and impost band, and above that, a panel with a cornice and crest, inscribed “Hyde Place 1868”. Below this panel is a double sash with a central mullion. The returns show a central sash, and above it, two gabled through-eaves dormers with round-headed sashes. A door is located towards the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
