Description

MALTBY YEWS SK58NE 8/76 Outbuilding at Yews Court 13.11.59 approximately 5 metres to west of house (formerly listed as Stable at the Yews) GV II Outbuilding of domestic origin. Probably late C16. Rubble limestone, pantile roof. 2 storeys with attic, 2 x 1 bays. Chamfered plinth, large quoins. South gable: ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with dripstones. Ground-floor window of 4 transomed lights damaged and partly infilled; similar window to 1st floor walled-up but more complete; 3-light window to gable. Rear (facing Yews Court): inserted garage door with door over in position of former 2-light window; blocked 2-light gable window. Left return: quoined lateral stack truncated at eaves; 2-light window to each floor on left; blocked 2-light window to 1st floor on right. Interior: 1st-floor: fireplace backing onto lateral stack has chamfered jambs and arched lintel lime ash floor; internal quoins on opposite wall probably indicate junction with original hall block. 2 principal-rafter trusses, 1 with later king-post truss inserted within it. Attached lean-to not of special interest.
