Description
The outbuilding at Yews Court, located approximately 5 metres to the west of the house, is a Grade II listed structure of domestic origin, likely dating from the late 16th century. It is constructed of rubble limestone and features a pantile roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and is arranged in a 2 x 1 bay configuration. Notable architectural details include a chamfered plinth and large quoins.
On the south gable, there are ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with dripstones. The ground-floor window, which originally had four transomed lights, is damaged and partly infilled, while a similar window on the first floor has been walled up but is more complete. There is also a three-light window in the gable. The rear of the building, facing Yews Court, has an inserted garage door with a door above it, replacing a former two-light window, and a blocked two-light gable window.
On the left return, there is a quoined lateral stack that has been truncated at the eaves, with a two-light window on the left side of each floor and a blocked two-light window on the first floor to the right. Inside, the first floor features a fireplace that backs onto the lateral stack, with chamfered jambs and an arched lintel, and a lime ash floor. Internal quoins on the opposite wall likely indicate where it connects with the original hall block. The building has two principal-rafter trusses, one of which has a later king-post truss inserted within it. An attached lean-to is not of special interest.
