Description
Yews Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed of ashlar limestone, featuring stone slate eaves courses and a pantile roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with an extended wing to the rear left. It has a plinth and five nosed steps leading to a central glazed door set within a rusticated panel topped with a cornice.
On the ground floor, a sill band connects the flanking one-storey canted bay windows, which have sashes with glazing bars and fluted pilasters at the corners. The first floor features a band and apron with a projecting sill beneath a central Venetian window, where the central light has a keyed archivolt and the outer lights are blind. The sill band also links to the flanking tripartite windows, which have sashes with glazing bars divided by wooden pilaster mullions and are topped by keyed flat arches.
The gable ends are adorned with shaped kneelers, gable copings, and corniced ashlar end stacks. On the left return, the wing includes a window set in an ashlar door surround with horizontally-sliding sashes that have glazing bars. Additionally, there is a lower two-storey extension to the wing, which also features kneelers and gable copings.
