Description
The rear wing of Yews Mill House is a building that likely dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed from magnesian limestone rubble and features a 20th-century pantile roof. The building is two storeys high and has a door and two windows on the first floor. The ground-floor door, located on the right, has an ashlar surround with impost blocks and a cambered lintel. To the left of this door is a window with a casement that includes glazing bars, set in a square-faced surround with four horizontal iron bars; there is also an inserted casement at the far left. The central door on the first floor mirrors that of the ground floor, and there are two flanking flat-faced mullioned windows with 20th-century casements. Inside, there are two spine beams made of heavy scantling. A mill race remains, leading to a wheel pit that is now concreted beneath the lower left part of the building. It is said that a paper mill once existed at Yews Mill, which may explain the small scale of this structure. The main range of Yews Mill House is not considered to be of special interest.
