Description
The war memorial, located at the junction of Church Street and Wales Road, was built in the mid-1920s. It is made of marble and features a square-sectioned pedestal with a moulded plinth and cornice. Atop the pedestal is a well-carved statue of an infantryman in full battle dress. The memorial is dedicated to the men of the parish who lost their lives in the Great War, with an inscription that states: "THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY THE PARISHONERS." Additional later inscriptions commemorate those who died in the conflicts of 1939-45 and subsequent wars.
