Description
Norwood Bridge is a canal bridge dated 1833, built for the Chesterfield Canal Company. It features part-rubble abutment walls, while the main structure is constructed of red brick with stone voussoirs and copings. The bridge has a single span with quoined jambs and projecting springing stones that support a chamfered segmental arch, which displays the date on a projecting keystone beneath a moulded ledge. The wing walls curve outward and end in rounded projecting piers. Coped parapets slope down on each side, although the southern parapet is mostly missing. This bridge is an isolated structure of the Chesterfield Canal, which has largely been infilled in this parish.
