Description

The Georgian House is a former rectory now serving as a private residence. It was built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building features deeply-coursed, dressed sandstone and a graduated Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and four windows on the first floor, with a lean-to addition on the right side.

The entrance includes a part-glazed panelled door located in the second bay, which has a pilastered surround and a fanlight with glazing bars beneath an open pediment. The other bays contain unequally-hung 20-pane sash windows with projecting sills and lintels that are tooled as voussoirs. The fourth bay window is flanked by small casements that also have glazing bars. The first-floor windows mirror those on the ground floor but feature 16-pane sashes. The roof is hipped and has a corniced ridge stack on the right side, along with end stacks. The lean-to on the right has a door in a square-faced surround and a hipped roof.

At the rear, there is a three-bay garden front of later date, which includes a French window, a band beneath four-pane sashes, and an eaves cornice. Inside, the entrance hall remains unspoilt and features an attractive staircase. The ground-floor rooms at the rear contain early and mid-19th century fireplaces.
