Description
The Cascade is a late 18th-century structure, with some rebuilding from the 20th century, located partly in Wentworth parish and built for the Wentworth estate. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a curved retaining wall with a lower central section. The abutment walls slope down and fan out in the downstream direction before returning into the bank. The ashlar copings overhang the curved section of the wall, and there are five stone posts that are designed to hold loose boards. This structure is an important part of the design of the parkland's lakes.
